Race Day Preparation

I was just wondering how you guys prepare for a race, days before and on race day. How do you prepare individually and as a team?

We each have different routines that we follow in order to get ready to race. Prep is very important for each race, as the mental aspect of racing can be the difference between making the final or not, a bronze medal or gold etc. Visualizing your outcome is a good way to prepare yourself for the difficulties and challenges of a race. It also allows you to picture where you'd like to finish, and envision the race plan you need to follow in order to make that happen. For example, Andrew and Gab during the Olympics talked as a team and went over their race plan several times together to ensure they were on the same page. They both knew going into each race how they were going to attack each race. As an individual, you need to make sure that you have everything you want on race day. You take the necessary steps to make sure you are setting yourself up for the best possible race. Maintain confidence in your ability and remind yourself that racing is a fun experience.
This little trick can set you apart from many who are prone to stress and have trouble racing. I hope this helps answer your question.
