Is Chinese food in Beijing anything like the Chinese food we eat over here?
Definitely some similarities. We have been eating various sweet and sour dishes, as well as beef dishes with snow peas and garlic that are reminiscent of Chinese food in Canada. However, it is not far-fetched to think that maybe we are being catered to as Westerners so the food may not be completely authentic.
